Base16 is an architecture for building themes created by Chris Kempson. There are many scripts and plugins which support these themes, my favourites being base16-shell and base16-vim. Base16-shell allows users to quickly switch their terminal's theme, whilst base16-vim ensures that Vim's colorscheme is consistent with the shells.
Base16_bg.sh is a small script which matches the background of your window manager or desktop enviroment with the background color of base16 terminal themes. It's a very simple script which does the following:
- Extracts the background color the current Base16 terminal theme.
- Creates a small PNG of that color using Imagemagick
- Sets the window manager background to that PNG
